Well its another year and yes another Valentines Day is upon us. We will be offering a complete romantic package for the entire month, not just the one weekend. You can expect to stay for a couple of relaxing nights and visit the great venues around our area, go out to eat with a provided gift card, there will be a dozen roses, gift basket and the finishing touch, when you come back from dinner there will be chocolate covered strawberries and champagne waiting. What a great weekend that would make for that special someone. Of course we can put together a specially made package just for you, just give us a call and tell us what you might be thinking of and we can put some things together and get you a price.
Make sure that you take care of that special person this holiday and bring them to the Mountains for a wonderful respite on the month of love.

Snowing in The Blue Ridge Mountains Again!!!
Here comes the snow again!!!
This year has been a real dozzy with the snows and ice that have fallen. Throw on the fact we had a rain so hard it washed out a good portion of the driveway. Thank goodness I own a tractor that was able to make the repairs quickly. Hopefully this time we will get little snow as we are ready for spring and it can not come soon enough. Hope everyone is staying warm and toasty and that you are having a wonderful new year. We will post some more pictures of the result of the snowfall and or pictures of us sledding down one of the great hills we have.

Mabry Mill winter 2010
Don't know where you live but here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia it is really cold. The kind of cold that makes you ache. Dutchie and I took a little trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway the other day. You may wonder how the Parkway could be open, well it isn't. The parkway is completely frozen over and probably won't thaw before March. Dutchie and I walked down to Mabry Mill from The Meadows of Dan area (about 1 1/2 mile each way so that I could get a picture of the mill frozen as it usually does every year about this time. After falling a few times and Dutchie chasing every deer in sight I was rewarded with the spectacular view that I had gone for (see pic) This is always a picture postcard scene and this year was not a disappointment either. The geese at the bottom of the frozen paddle wheel were having a grand time in the nearly frozen pond and Dutchie was trying to figure out how to get to them. After our walk back we stopped and ate at the newest restaurant in the Meadows of Dan, Two By Two Bar-B-Que. You need to stop in if you want authentic Carolina style pulled Bar-B-Que as it is really good. Hope you are enjoying your new year and hope we thaw out soon.

Winter in the Blue Ridge
Well, for the first time since we opened our doors this winter has started with a real bang. The cold just won't seem to go away. The B&B is very cozy inside, however getting out and doing just about anything is proving to be a little miserable. The bright side is that you can come visit curl up with that good book you have been meaning to read and enjoy a hot cup of coffee, cocoa, or herbal tea. Of course there is always a good movie to watch as well.
Dutchie and I are going to hike the now closed down Blue Ridge Parkway today to get some great pictures of Mabry Mill all frozen over and looking spectacular. It is always beautiful this time of year but the weather has not cooperated enough to allow access to the Parkway for over two weeks.
I am sure we will have fun and get some great pictures which I will post to our next blog.
